AUSTIN, TX — Today, the Texas House Committee on Public Health heard House Bill 2107 by Representative Eddie Lucio, III (Brownsville) relating to authorizing the possession, use, cultivation, distribution, transportation, and delivery of medical cannabis for medical use by qualifying patients with certain debilitating medical conditions and the licensing of dispensing organizations and testing facilities.
“I thank Chairman Price, and the distinguished members of the Public Health committee, for their time and consideration of this legislation,” said Representative Lucio. “I sincerely appreciate everyone who has written, called, and visited my office in support of this bill. Your courage to speak about your personal health condition is important for this legislature to hear. Armed with empirical data, I will continue to work diligently to permit Texans to utilize medical cannabis for their health needs.”
Recent polls show that more than 80% of Texans support expanding access to medical cannabis. Hundreds of thousands of Texans who suffer from illnesses like cancer, autism, glaucoma, HIV, AIDS, and PTSD would benefit from medical cannabis.
“Many across our state are depending on House Bill 2107 for the management of their ailing healthcare needs,” added Representative Lucio. “The time is now to be part of the evident movement that will safeguard access to medical cannabis.”
