AUSTIN, TX — Today, the Texas House adopted House Resolution 1366 filed by Representative Eddie Lucio, III (Brownsville) recognizing and congratulating Tejano recording artist Michael Salgado for the numerous accomplishments and outstanding contributions to the community and Tejano music.
“Mr. Salgado is not only a gifted performer, but a passionate philanthropist,” said Representative Lucio. “Over the years, Mr. Salgado has demonstrated a high level of dedication to his community.” Mr. Salgado has established his own charitable organization, the Para Mi Gente Foundation and benefits the community through efforts with the Children’s Shelter of San Antonio, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
A two-time GRAMMY Award winner, Mr. Salgado started his own band at the age of 19 and later climbed to the number one spots in multiple radio charts in the U.S. and Mexico. In addition, Mr. Salgado holds dozens of awards including Tejano Music Awards and a Billboard Latin Music award.
Mr. Salgado was recognized on the Texas House Floor and was joined by family members Blanca Mendez-Salgado, Katrina Garza, Michael Salgado, Jr., and Andres Salgado.
The Texas Senate also adopted Senate Resolution 633 filed by Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. (Brownsville) to honor Mr. Salgado and recognized the Tejano music star in the Texas Senate chamber.
